Children
We welcome children in our midst! Children bring a richness to the community gathered at worship. They also bring movement, questions, toys and sometimes confusion! That’s OK! We don’t expect children to be still all the time. We encourage the wondering and the questions so that they will feel comfortable and know that they are loved by this congregation and by God! There are worship baggies for young children in the toy box just outside the sanctuary. Children and youth are active participants in worship, leading through song, drama and scripture reading.
Our beautiful nursery is for infants and young children. It is staffed with well trained, loving care givers who are committed to making sure that our youngest members are happy, safe and comfortable here at church. It is in these early years that children learn about God’s love by being loved! We also have a paging system that allows the nursery staff to contact parents if they are needed to return to their children.
What Children Gain by attending Worship
Community: Together, we learn that we are all children of God and are welcomed in church, just as we are.
Familiarity: Together, in the ritual of worship, the order of worship, the spoken and sung responses, the Lord’s Prayer and the music of the church, giving praise and thanks to the God who loves us, we build shared experiences in Christian community.
History:Together, we hear the Bible’s history, and we learn to see Christian worship as a place where we have met God, for ages, refreshed and strengthened by our brothers and sisters–the worshiping community.
Integrity: Together, we see how people of all ages engage in worship, looking to each other as models and mentors, discovering what it means to be “Christian,” in thought, word, and deed.
